Improve Yourself To Land A better Job or A Promotion

Having a decent job can greatly improve the quality of your life.  You probably spend good proportion of your day at work.  With that in mind, you do not want to be miserable when you are at work. If you want a better job, improve yourself to be more attractive to employers or get the promotion you want.  This task may be easier than you think.  Start making some simple changes and watch the job offers begin to appear.

The number one way to reinvent yourself in order to land a better job or get a promotion is to change your attitude.  Even if you are working at a nightmare of a job at present, you need work on being positive.  Negativity can be seen a mile away.  You may not realize it but your face expression, posture and quality of work show off how you feel about your job.  This attitude has to go so decide to change it NOW.

Some simple ways to change the way you feel about your current job are

·         Being on time or even a bit early (never late)

·         The way you dress. Take pride in your appearance and the way you dress whether you have a uniform or a dress code. Made sure you are clean and tidy

·         Put a smile on your face. Even if you are on the phone your smile will be noticed.

·         Keep a positive attitude. In every situation ask yourself “what is good about this situation?”.

Make these changes and you will be surprised. Your work environment will improve and people will start to notice you.

Take some classes.  Improving skills is always a good idea, whether you have qualifications or not.  It doesn’t matter how busy you are, you can find time for a class or two.  Use the Internet and take online classes if time is a major issue.  Work at your own pace and pick up new skills.  Improving yourself will make more attractive to employers.

Move away.  If there are no jobs, where you live, in your field. Move to a place where your qualifications are more marketable.  Find an area where the job market is fertile.  When the economy goes south, certain job types are completely eliminated.  If you are eager to find a better job you may have to go somewhere else to do it.

Apply for higher positions in the company that you currently work for at the moment.  Even if you are not really that thrilled about the current company you work for, while you are there you should make the best of it.  Get as much experience as you can so that you will have a nice extensive work history to refer to when you are looking for a new job.

Decide what type of job you want before you start looking.  Narrow down the search and target the positions that fall in line with the jobs you would most like.  If you keep saying that you want a better job but have no idea what the better job is, you are not going to find it.  Have a job in mind before you start looking.

Join networking sites.  They can be used for networking for jobs among other things.  Be sure that you are professional when you put up your page.  Let employers know that you are serious about finding a job.  Do not post pictures of yourself at parties or in questionable situations.

So decide what you want, make the changes, and go for it. And you will get what you want

Have a fabulous day
